About the CausePersonal passions, as varied in type as our community’s interests: “I’ll swim 100 laps daily—up from my usual 50”’ “I’ll publish a family cookbook with the photos and stories that link family memories to food; “I’ll walk 1 miles each day and live as long as my 98 year old Mom!” “My son and I will cook 48 new, healthy and affordable meals together because we just love to cook!”
This odd collection of personal goals is linked by a common thread: each person is a passionate supporter of the programs that enable Tompkins County youth to pursue their own passions, dreams and goals: the youth programs of The Learning Web.
These individuals, and many more, are Champions for The Learning Web, and as such, are participating in its fun(d)-raising campaign, Fuel The Learning Web Spark! In this fundraiser, Champions create both a personal challenge and a fundraising goal. Champions will have a limited time to attain their challenges and to ask friends, family and co-workers to acknowledge the importance of identifying and fulfilling personal goals by making donations to The Learning Web—thus supporting Tompkins County youth as they explore and achieve their personal challenges, dreams, goals, and passions.
Fuel The Learning Web Spark captures the very essence of The Learning Web. Assisting young people on their journey to adulthood is The Learning Web’s mission: sparking a passion, connecting them with an adult role model, helping them learn how to live on their own and believe in themselves, growing a vision for their future, helping young people evolve into valued members of our community—in the workplace, as parents, as neighbors, as active and productive citizens. For over 41 years, The Learning Web has been helping youth make a successful transition from adolescence to adulthood. Assisting over 11,500 youth—3,000 of these homeless youth—to develop valuable skills that support them as they find their place in today’s complex world.
The Learning Web is raising funds so that it can continue to offer ALL community young people career exploration, apprenticeship, life skills; and, for homeless youth, housing and skills for independent living. Please support our Champions’ Challenges as they combine their passion for The Learning Web with their own personal passion.
